Communicate
Herefordshire County BID manages the counties official tourism body, Visit Herefordshire. Visit Herefordshire’s role is to encourage visitors to come and enjoy the delights of Herefordshire, spend more time here and go away happy and planning another visit. Originally kickstarted by the covid recovery funds in June 2020, Herefordshire County Destination BID Destination BID is now developing and funding Visit Herefordshire and its vital work, including marketing campaigns, VisitHerefordshire.co.uk, PR, social media channels, digital marketing and sector engagement.
Trailblazing visitor website
All our marketing activity is designed to drive traffic to VisitHerefordshire.co.uk. The site has been carefully planned to inspire visitors and help them plan their trip – there’s a host of dedicated content which speaks to our key audiences.
All levy payers can have a directory listing and event profiles which can be edited at any times.
From January to June 2023, we had 262,053 unique visitors with 130,175 visitors viewing the directory listings, showing the site’s power to generate leads for your business. In addition, our downloadable content which features many member businesses has seen high downloads since its launch e.g. Cider Circuits bike routes.
Extensive work is undertaken to improve search engine performance. Our site is now showing in the top 3 results on Google for more than 10,000 keywords.
Impactful marketing & PR campaigns
The world of destination marketing is very competitive. To stand out to potential visitors and media, we have to flex our creativity. All of our campaigns are drawn from our brand values and focus on attracting our defined target audiences. On brand photography and copy is also essential. Campaigns have included:
- Herefordshire Trail: Relaunch of the county’s long-distance walking trail
- Cider Circuits: Bike trails which tour diverse landscapes & artisan cider makers
- Watkins Way: Flagship scenic, heritage driving route
- Black & White Villages: Reinventing for sustainable travel by bike & by bus
- Hideous Histories: Four adventures for families
We promote these stories to a wide range of media, securing coverage in titles such as The Guardian, Daily Telegraph, iNews, Conde Nast Traveller, Best, Stylist, Independent etc. We also host journalists on press trips to provide them with valuable first-hand experience of all Herefordshire has to offer.
“We’ve been working with Herefordshire Destination BID team for the last year now and they have been superb at bringing a new audience of national press and influencers to our cider mill. The team have worked incredibly hard to spotlight the county and all the wonderful tourism angles within it.” Gemma Evans – Brand Manager – Westons
